European Youth Programme Action 5 CBC Training Course
7th - 13th August 2006, Czech Republic

Background:
This training course is a follow-up activity of "Roots - Nature as a Method in Youth Work" CBC training course held in Austrian Alps in August 2005. One of the project ideas, which came out of the "Roots" TC, was to develop an activity dealing with experiential methods provoking unusual, but healthy experiences.

Aim of Event:
In this training course we want to explore and experience various methods of youth work that can help youth workers to attract young people and to offer them strong experiences similar to those evoked by drugs. This should be a tool for the prevention of abuse of illegal substances and for healthy development of the young people.

Participants profile:
We plan to host 20 participants and we would like to invite participants who:
· Are youth workers/youth leaders working with youth at risk of drug abuse.
· Have willingness to explore and implement alternative methods of youth work.
· Have some knowledge and/or experience of the Youth Programme.
· Have an interest to develop projects within the Youth Programme, especially cross-border projects with Czech Republic.
· Are able to attend the full duration of the training course.
· Are capable to work and use in English language.
· Be of at least 18 years of age.

This is a cross-border cooperation training course, so the number of the participants from the cross-border regions of Czech Republic should be in balance to the number of other participants. This will be taken into consideration in the selection procedure.

· Germany: Niederbayern, Oberpfalz, Oberfranken, Berlin, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Sachsen, Chemnitz, Dresden
· Poland: Zachodniopomorskie, Lubuskie, Dolnoslaskienezia
· Slovak Republic: Západné Slovensko, Bratislavský Kraj

Host and place:
Legal Drugs is organised by SDM - Sdruzeni deti a mladeze (Association of children and youth) and Prevent which are NGOs working mostly in the area of leisure time of children and youth and drug abuse prevention. This training course will take place in the south of Czech Republic, in the border region with Austria.

Programme elements:
We will spend a lot of time outside in the nature, playing music, dancing, working with art techniques, sharing games and methods. We also want to visit some local organisations working in the youth field, and to experience the history and tradition of the beautiful area. At the end we would like to develop projects ideas based on the experience of the training course.
